The Golden Pitch is a north Louisiana entrepreneurial and business development event that is open to all Grambling State University students. This competition will provide real-world education in entrepreneurship and boost new business creation in our region.
Students can submit models for new businesses in any industry. Qualified participants will progress through 3 phases in the competition; idea proposal, business development, and the final pitch. The application portal will open on Monday, August 20, 2018.
This initiative is sponsored by the Committee of One Hundred and BRF. It will be organized by the Entrepreneurial Accelerator Program (EAP) – a division of BRF. EAP’s mission is to build an inclusive entrepreneurial eco-system in central Louisiana. All events will be held at the Grambling State University campus located in Grambling, Louisiana.
Participants will receive coaching from industry experts and sharpen their entrepreneurial skills. They’ll also receive:• Real world experience in the startup and fundraising process

• $3000 FIRST PLACE
• $1000 SECOND PLACE
• $500 THIRD PLACE
Winners will all receive a scholarship to Louisiana StartUp Prize 2019, a scholarship to The Patent Academy, and 6 months’ of professional services from The Entrepreneurial Accelerator Program (EAP).
There is no fee to enter.
Applicants must be currently enrolled in a degree program at GSU to participate in this competition. Only one application per individual/team is permitted. Online students may apply, but must be physically present to participate in on-campus events.
The Golden Pitch application will open August 20, 2018 in Canvas at 9:00 a.m. and will close on September 28, 2018 at 11:55 p.m. The application process takes less than 15 mins to complete. Incomplete applications will not be considered.
Qualifying applicants will be invited to attend a business development workshop on Thursday, October 25 from 3:30p.m. – 5:30p.m. EAP Analysts and other industry experts will provide business and financial model development training and presentation coaching. After the workshop participants will be required to submitted four deliverables to be considered for the top 5 finalist positions; lean canvas, 1-page executive summary, pitch deck, and 1-page summary of financial projections.

Final submission packets are due Friday, November 2, 2018. The packets will be reviewed and graded by assigned reviewers. The top 5 proposals will be invited to pitch in the final event.
The Final Pitch will be held on Thursday, November 15, 2018 at 6:00 p.m. The top 5 participants and/or teams will be invited to pitch their business models to a panel of judges. Each finalist will be allowed 7 minutes to present, which will be followed by a 5-minute question & answer session.
This competition will not be under any non-disclosure agreement. Judges, reviewers, staff, volunteers, and the audience will not be asked to sign one. Please seek counsel from your university tech transfer office if you are concerned about intellectual property disclosure.
